With Independence Day coming up, I have been thinking about freedom. We have many freedoms that we can celebrate. What is a freedom that you are grateful for? I am grateful for the freedom I have to choose the life that I desire. This life includes the ability to pay attention to the signs from Spirit. When I get too caught up in questioning and judgment, like I was a week ago, I lose my freedom. At these times, Spirit will often send me signs, even when I’m not looking for them.
On Wednesday I was looking for something in a box that had not been unpacked from my move three years ago. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I found one of the two CD’s for the Voice of Knowledge by don Miguel Ruiz. It had been stored in a case that belonged to another CD. Since the cover was missing, it was clearly visible. I took this as a reminder to make use of the tools I learned in Toltec Dreaming.
In the same box, I found two cassettes on Female Body and Play from a class I took at the Berkeley Psychic Institute (BPI) 17 years ago. Both the topic and its source were additional reminders of what to focus on. The topic was a challenging one for me as I had never really paid attention to my female body, and play doesn’t always come easy to me. 17 years ago play was even harder!
The class was one of the five basic classes that BPI required before applying to their Clairvoyant program. I took the last class right after moving to Sonoma County. As I was thinking about committing to their Clairvoyant program, Spirit led me to a local Toltec Wisdom Circle. As the mother of a five year old, I only had time to explore one or the other. I chose the Toltec path of the Four Agreements. If I had chosen the BPI path, my life would have been completely different.
After discovering the cassette and CD, I continued unsuccessfully to look for what I wanted on a shelf in my house. This time I found the other Voice of Knowledge CD! It was in its proper case along with a CD entitled NOW 30. I had bought NOW 30 to dance to when I was taking pole dancing lessons. The Voice of Knowledge is all about letting go of limiting beliefs and freeing ourselves from the inner voices. Taking classes in pole dancing for fitness was an opportunity to let go of who I thought I was and what I thought I was capable of. It was also another place to play with my female body.
I then went out to my office that I have been reorganizing. As I was moving a bookcase, a book fell off the shelf entitled Soul Lessons and Soul Purpose: A Channeled Guide to Why You are Here by Sonia Choquette. It belonged to one of my mentors, Sharon Maser, who passed away a couple years ago before I could return it. Browsing the book and thinking about my mentor was a wonderful reflection of my journey, the support I am receiving, and my connection to Spirit.
That evening, Facebook reminded me of Miguel Ruiz’s talk that I had considered attending. I decided to go at the last minute. Soaking in the loving energy of Miguel Ruiz and his son, along with seeing many of the people who had been part of my Toltec journey, again helped me to disconnect from the voices, connect with Spirit, and remember how my life has shifted over the years.
I hadn’t consciously been asking for signs, but Spirit knew what I needed and stepped in anyway. If I had been too caught up in my mind chatter, I could have gotten angry at not finding what I was looking for and later at having a book fall of the shelf while I was moving it. Instead, I was able to focus on the signs I was being given. While the voices in our head are part of being human, I am grateful that I no longer let them get in the way of living my life and seeing the signs from Sprit. For me, the freedom I have to do this is a great freedom to celebrate. What freedom are you celebrating?
